A Bit About Me
I was born in New York City but grew up in Manila, Philippines. I spent most of my life in there until I graduated from university (shoutout to psychology majors!) and then lived and worked in 9 different countries, namely: The Philippines, Poland, Spain, France, Brazil, Ireland, Singapore, USA, and Malta. I’ve been to almost 50 countries and I speak English, Filipino (Tagalog), Spanish, and some Mandarin. I have two masters degrees which are an M.A. and an M.S. in Industrial and Organization psychology and currently work in the technology industry at a fortune 500 company in a client facing role.
I do stand-up comedy on occasion and am a New York Cares volunteer as well as a proud mentor at Asian American Dream. I love Broadway shows, going to the opera, fine dining, taking random art classes anywhere in the world, volunteering, and pop music. Most importantly, I love the people I keep close and I love my life!
Despite loving my life, it has been very difficult in certain aspects. I am tan skinned and grew in a very racist community in a developing country with an alcoholic father that eventually left our family, and a mentally ill legally blind mother. I almost died in a 3-car road accident caused by a drunk driver which left me (temporarily) blind in one eye. I’m just scratching the surface here but I mention all of these not-as-nice things because I built this website with hopes that as I share my experiences (the good and the bad), I’ll be able to share something that helps you in some way – whether that’s by providing a light to read when you’re bored, teaching you something new, or making you feel less alone during a difficult time. Ultimately, my hope is that my posts will provide you with something positive for self-reflection, self-love, or just sheer enjoyment.
Welcome to my site, and I hope you enjoy it!
